My Baby Birds

Every year for the past 4 years we have had a bird nest under the eve of our front porch. When the baby birds get old enough to leave the nest they usually find some way to say Good Bye to us. This time my 18 year old son came home and parked his pick up by the sidewalk and saw the birds sitting on the back of this rocking chair. He told his brother to come in and get me and when I walked out there they sat there for a few minutes and then flew away. They sat on the wires for awhile and we then went in and they flew off. Every once in awhile we will see one or two of them siting in the nest. Also for the first couple of months after they leave when the weather gets bad they come back to the nest until it clears up. It is like their safe place to ride out the storm. When I see momma bird repairing her nest and then the eggs laid I know that God sent them to me to comfort me. When I am down and feeling depressed I can look out at the birds and it remind me that God has this whatever it happens to be.

Fabric Flower Wreath

Wreath made using fabric flowers. With gems and buttons in the middle. The bow is a little messed up in the picture but I did not realize it until after I had taking it. I did fix it so it looks better hanging on my kitchen door I originally made it to hang on my momma's door at the nursing home but decided that it was to big so I kept it for myself and I am going to make her another one.
The one that I make for her will be made with mostly purple flowers since that is the color of Alzheimer's. June is the month for Alzeheimer's Awareness let's help spread the word.

A beautiful flower arrangement that I created using a handmade box bottom and a square piece of fabric cut to fit in the box. After I cut and sewed the fabric together I stuffed it then lovingly arranged the flowers on top and hot glued them in place. I thought that it needed a little something so I added 3 pipe cleaner butterflies I made that were just waiting for that special project to be used. I made this for my MOM for MOTHER'S DAY who is in a Home for the aged. She has Alzheimer's and they are not allowed to have glass in their rooms. My Mom loves butterflies so I try to add those to things that I make for her. Although I know that she is not capable of showing emotions any longer and she will not comment or even acknowledge the fact that I gave it to her I know that she will cherish it.
This is what all 4 sides look like. I glued lace all around it and then added little purple bows to the center of each side. Purple is the color for Alzheimer's Awareness so I use that color a lot no matter what I am crafting.
These are some flowers that I have made. Thinking what I want to do with these but have not decided yet. Maybe another arrangement in a box, maybe a wreath who knows. I am sure that I will do something special with them. Maybe Mom needs a new wreath for her door. These with some smaller ones as fillers....add some ribbon, and lace....sound like a plan for these flowers!!

Decor that I have made using old cd's

Just wanted to share some items that I made using old cd's. Most of the items are made from cardstock using my Cricut. I used a butterfly that I bought on sale at Michael's and a real peacock feather. The one with the snowflakes and poinsettia would look beautiful hanging on the Christmas tree. The back is not covered so the lights would shimmer off of it and reflect nicely. Hope you enjoy looking. Have a wonderful week.
